Villa Aglaia, rental villa near Gennadi, Rhodes.

We spent at Villa Aglaia a very pleasant period in August. The house is very spacious and cozy, tastefully decorated, clean, with a very well equipped kitchen, with a washing machine, a dishwasher, two refrigerators, a microwave oven and small appliances: the ideal for our group of six people. We absolutely loved the shady patio with barbecue, the grassy garden with sunbeds, the small and nice private pool. Excellent, inside, the air conditioning system, a blessing for the hot summers of Rhodes. The hosts do not live in Rhodes but are always available via e-mail, are very helpful and courteous and will endeavor in every way possible to make your stay perfect: every week they ensure the complete cleaning of the house, linen changes, maintenance of the pool, thanks to the highly efficient staff on site. We really can say that Villa Aglaia is a place where you'll be happy to return in the evening after a day out! Villa Aglaia is located in a very quiet area with panoramic sea views, it's within few minutes walking from the shops, the pharmacy and the beautiful, long beach of Gennadi. Due to its perfect location you can reach within max 30 minutes driving all the most beautiful beaches in the center-south of Rhodes and the beautiful village of Lindos, a must see. In conclusion, a highly recommended place for those seeking a holiday away from the hustle, to enjoy in peace a beautiful island Thanks to Suzi and Alan for the wonderful hospitality!

We had a very good time in Villa Aglaia it is a very nice house, indeed, and a perfect location as well. You can never admire enough the gorgeous sea view from the backyard, which due to its placement on the mountainside works more like a terrace. It is also a perfect piece for stargazing for the people from the north. There is not much light pollution around. The terrace is directed to the south, so you can see the part of the sky never available on the latitudes back home. Probably not very important to all the people, but we just loved staring at the Milky Way, shining bright in the cloudless sky, white standing or lying on your back on the low stone wall, separating the backyard from the harsh hillside terrain behind it. Gennadi village is not a place with e flourishing night life, but everything you need is still available there. The food store, the bakery, a pedestrian walk lined by cafes and couple of restaurants and even a pub offering fast internet connection, playing good music, showing football matches and staying open till very-very late. Also the taverns on the beach are within a walking distance and offer an excellent atmosphere to have dinner and look at the twilight taking over the Mediterranean and then darkness embedding the wavy waters. The way back to the villa, though, is going uphill and requires some effort to cover with your stomach full of "good and the better", but this is the price you need to pay for having such a magnificent view arid refreshing breeze on the hillside - an opportunity to exercise after ail! The landlords, Suzi and Alan, take extra good care or their guests. Thank you very much for that, Suzi and Alani Everything what was promised was there, worked and was in perfect shape, making our life easy and joyful during our stay. The information provided was precise and easy to understand, starting from the excellent instructions about how to find the way to the villa, which guided us there even though it was dark already when we arrived, to the accurate information provided about how often the pool-man comes to do his pool maintenance tasks - should fulfil even the most demanding wishes for privacy. Even though the public transportation works, it is a must, I think, to hire a car. It gives you a freedom and flexibility to peek here and there and visit places around whenever you want. The beaches around offer places to sunbathe and sandy sea bathing, for the ones who like it, and rocky seabed tor the ones who prefer more active entertainment, like snorkelling, for instance. The villa fulfilled all our expectations. The only warning - beware of opening the doors on both sides of the house at the same time on windy days. The gusts can be strong and the wind could break the door glass.

My Husband and I have just returned from a week's stay in the villa. We travelled with another couple. We are all in our late fifties. To start with the booking process was easy and straightforward. The terms of the letting are clear and there are no hidden charges or extras. The owners, the Claytons are very nice helpful people to deal with and Suzi put up with all of my emails as we thought of things we wanted to ask. As you arrive at the airport, don't worry if you haven't hired a car, there are plentiful taxis and they all take their turn to pick up. It is very organised. There is also a list of all the destinations at the rank so you know exactly what you have to pay before you get in. This was a concern we had before travelling but Suzi re-assured us and she was absolutely right. We did book our driver to pick us up at the end the holiday. He turned up bang on time. The photos you see on the website reflect exactly what the villa is like. It is only three/four years old and has been thoughtfully, and very well fitted to a high standard throughout. The pool is definitely more than a plunge pool and was just lovely to slip into at any time of the day. Don't take too many clothes, as apart from the temperature this time of year, there is a cracking and very easy to use washing machine, and the Greek sunshine is the best drier possible. You will also find a full oven and hob, fridge freezer and separate second fridge, dishwasher, iron and board, D\/D's, books, a cracking outside BBQ, and, we thought the best feature of all, a very welcome and spacious open sided dining area off from the kitchen. There are sunbeds, the pool is regularly cleaned and looked after. You get the idea. This is an excellent property. The villa is positioned a little behind and above the village of Gennadi so the there is a wonderful breeze most of the day, and the views are lovely from just about any aspect of the villa and gardens. The villa is only five minutes or so from the village centre. The last bit of the walk is uphill but not too (bad at all. Worth it for those views. The villa is part of a small complex of villas, a couple of which haven't been bought. They are therefore un-occupied but do not let this put you off in any way. Villa Aglaia has a large corner plot and its position within the plot leaves you aware of only the views and open countryside beyond it. The village of Gennadi is a proper small Greek Village. If you want a throbbing resort, go elsewhere. If you want to feel almost part of a real community, where people will still smile and say 'Kalimera' as they pass you, then this is for you. There are a number of Tavernas in the village - Mama's Kitchen is very good - and another three on the beach ~ as you walk towards them go the right hand Taverna -Antonis. Eugenie, the daughter of the house is great and speaks good English. The beach is another few minutes walk straight on from the village centre. There are also a number of bars in the village all of which tumble out onto one of the main streets in the evening â€" they put up a small barrier to stop the traffic so everyone of all ages comes out. The local beach is shingle /pebbly but it is also well cared for and there are very neat rows of sunbeds and umbrellas for hire at 7 euros per day (at time of writing). The tavernas there look directly over the beach. There's a good supermarket, pharmacists, a cracking patisserie, and veg shop in the centre of the village. You can also get A WiFi connection at the beach taverna and in the village. So our sincere thanks to the Claytons. We had a great time and will probably go back. We did have a very warm welcome at Villa Aglaia. That was nice after a long journey from the Netherlands. We had a wonderful week. The house is comfortable and cozy. The view is beautiful, at the sea and the hills. And the kids enjoyed themselves very well in the pool. The village is pleasant, with the bakery and supermarket nearby. We had dinner several times in the local restaurants. What a friendly people do live here. Highly recommended! MM
  • vacanza perfetta

  • Lovely Villa with beautiful sea views

Booking Villa Aglaia was simple and stress free, Suzi was marvelous and held the Villa whilst we made travel arrangements and was very good to accommodate our slight change in dates. She sent through a full set of instructions of how to get there and a map of the local village. I felt I knew the place before we set off, and had already decided where we were going to eat from her recommendations. The Villa is beautiful and reminded us of our stay in Santorini a few years ago, although set in a small development of about 9 Villas, a couple of the Villas remain unfinished. I felt though that we were in the Villa with the best location and not really over looked, the sunbathing area was very private and had views of the sea and a welcoming sea breeze. The Villa itself was lovely and well equipped but to be honest we generally just slept there, most of our time was spent outside or exploring Rhodes. The plunge pool was also good, there was enough room for three of us to lounge around. Gennadi village was lovely, the locals very friendly, especially in our favorite restaurant which was Sergios, Poppy was very welcoming and the food delicious. Given the chance I would definitely go back. Thanks Suzi

    Beautiful sea view

We stayed as two couples. Loads of room as the villa had a double en-suite, a further spacious double and even the single room was large and airy with it's own balcony. It was very well equipped and we especially loved the completely shaded outdoor eating area. The pool was so welcome as we experienced temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees which apparently was exceptionally hot for September. We travelled around the island by hiring a car for 4 days but we found the local bus service was excellent. We went to Lindos twice and also to Rhodes town on the local air conditioned bus. Surprisingly they were bang on time and who can argue with under 3 euros for a ride to Lindos with beautiful coastal views. Gennadi itself is a small village but it has everything you need. A very well stocked supermarket, a lovely greengrocer and a bakery. We also loved walking down to the seaside tavernas at night (Antonis was our favourite). If you are looking for traditional Greece, uninterrupted views and peace, this is the villa for you. If you want full English, sports bars, clubs, forget it!

    Perfection

This Villa is perfect. Amazing panoramic views, stretching from the hills across the countryside to the sea and at night the lack of light pollution means you see all the stars. The villa is perfectly appointed with a comfortable lounge and 3 bedrooms all with there own balcony. Brilliant location, 5 minutes walk from the quiet and authentically Greek village of Gennadi with its tavernas, bars and shops. It is also 15 minutes walk from the sandy beach and more tavernas featuring fabulous seafood. It is excellently equipped with a small swimming pool which is perfect to cool off and to keep the kids happy. Perhaps best of all is its position on the beautiful Island of Rhodes, only 45 mins from the airport but well out of the busy resorts and only 10 minutes from the must visit ancient city of Lindos. We can't wait to go back
